Galway Arts Festival. Last two weeks of July
Rightly claiming to be Ireland's biggest and best arts festival, this event has grown into an international happening that stops the city in its tracks. Featuring theatre, music, visual arts and literature - much of it free - its greatest achievement has been some truly spectacular open-air shows and an awesome parade and fireworks. Galway Races starts on the last Monday in July
One of the highlights of Galway's social and sporting calendar. A full week of exciting horse racing and lots of glamour on Ladies' Day in the refurbished Ballybrit Racecourse. Plenty of amusements, live music, bars, restaurant, fast food and the thrill of a flutter.

2000 World Press Photo Exhibition Last week of July for two weeks.

Galway Film Fleadh. Second week of July

Countdown has begun for Galway's 15th Film Fleadh..........8th-13th July 2003

The 14th Galway Film Fleadh provided a feast of screenings and a wealth of actors, directors and film financiers which made for a very special and successful festival. As always the Fleadhs unique informal atmosphere made it easy for filmakers and actors from all corners of the world to mix with the general public.

Clifden Connemara Pony show in August.

Salthill Air Show. 1 July
An air spectacular takes to the skies over Salthill promenade. This free event begins at 3pm and is guaranteed to thrill spectators.
