After a peaceful night in one of Corrib View's traditionally furnished bedrooms, visitors to this 200-year-old Georgian-style farmhouse can breakfast with a clear view across some of the Lough's 44,000 acres of water.   The gentle scenery provides a fitting backdrop to the end of a day's activity such as walking, golfing and boating.

Corrib View Farmhouse is just a short drive away from the traditional farming community of Oughterard, on the edge of Connemara in the west of Ireland. Here the pace of life is gentle, as it is at Corrib View Farmhouse, where you'll find it easy to unwind.  Relaxation is the key to a pleasant visit to Corrib View, its inspiring scenery a soothing remedy to the stresses of home routines.

The house, framed by shrubs and trees in large mature gardens, is ideally located for walking, cycling, golf - Oughterard Golf Club and pitch and putt courses are a few minutes walk away - and of course fishing. Boats and boatmen can be hired and a short journey to one of the Corrib's 365 islands is a must.

Other activities include tennis - Corrib View Farmhouse has an all-weather tennis court - while bird-watchers will find the lakeside location ideal.  Similarly, painting enthusiasts will find plenty of inspiration both close to the farmhouse and elsewhere around Oughterard and Connemara.

For those interested in flora and fauna, there is a wealth of interest in front of Corrib View Farmhouse.  Witness the summer burst of pink and white lilies which decorate the waters edge just in front of the farmhouse and see, nearby, the unusual pitted rock formation, caused over thousands of years by acid water.

Local history is on the doorstep, too. The ruins of the 16th century Aughnanure Castle are close by and a relaxing boat ride from Oughterard will take you to the 5th. century monastic ruins on Inchagoill Island on Lough Corrib. There are also boat excursions to magnificent Ashford Castle.

For those who fancy the occasional evening out, Oughterard is a colourful, bustling town with excellent choice in pubs and restaurants. Traditional music can be heard most nights of the week.
