Located along the Irish coast in the peaceful hamlet of Glassilaun, the Glassilaun Beach is a pristine stretch of untouched shores that beckon to vacationers and families.
Gurteen Bay is set back-to-back with Dogs Bay and filled with the clearest Atlantic water, that can be enjoyed for swimming and almost every type of aquatic sports. The sand is pure white, as it is not formed of quartz but of shells exclusively. These beaches are a real pleasure just to walk along and be in tune with nature, with its sea bird life and Fauna.
Silverstrand has a safe, shallow, sandy beach of approximately 0.25km bounded on one side by a cliff and the other by rocks. It is particularly popular with and suitable for young families. It faces directly into Galway Bay giving spectacular views. There is a promenade with parking capacity for about 60 vehicles. It is suitable for swimming at low tide but the beach is largely covered during high tides. It is lifeguarded during the summer months.
